A young boy, bored and lonely turns to petty vandalism and is given two weeks "hard labour" at the hospital where he befriends an elderly male patient - his first friend.

Doctor Elliott shocks Wandin Valley when his new friend arrives. The young boy is devastated when the old man dies but decides to take on the care of his dog.

A young diabetic's condition saves her from the disaster that befalls her fellow students. Simon's father arrives in Wandin Valley.

Frank arrives at the site of the minibus crash and realises that it is an emergency. There are six very seriously injured people. Simon finds his father has been enlisted to help in the emergency.

Marta shows growing affection for Ben Prescott, the Pony Club manager and Terence is jeolous. Meanwhile, Brendan tries to help a family whose son appears to be troubled by violence at home.

Shirley asks Frank to pose nude for her painting. A colleague of Simon's father comes to stay and Simon gets a pleasant surprise.

Simon has some news for Vicky - his father has asked him to join the family practice. Shirley's painting of Frank provides great amusement at the club.

Ben tells Marta of a problem that may put an end to their relationship. Brendan discovers the source of the strange noises that have been upsetting Molly.

Molly finds motherhood trying, she is tired and unhappy. Vicky investigates the mystery death of some cattle.

There are some surprises at the Wandin Valley Hospital Beauty Quest. Molly has to adjust to a change in her relationship with Chloe.
